The issue

The amount poor countries lose in income through unfair trade rules is 14 times greater than they receive in aid.
Current trade rules are unfair for lots of different reasons, but the main ones are:

• Farmers in rich countries have more support so they have a big advantage over poor farmers.
• Rich countries ‘dump’ cheap crops onto poor countries so it is harder for poor farmers to sell their crops.
• Trade taxes stop poor countries from selling overseas.
• Rich countries control the rules.
