AID
The issue
Quite simply, poor countries don’t get enough aid from rich countries.
Rich nations, including the UK, have promised to give 0.7% of national income in aid, but few are keeping their word.
Many poor countries need continuous aid to pay for important basic services like healthcare. If they don’t get enough aid to pay for these things, poverty gets worse.
Plus, even when rich countries DO give aid, it is often on condition that the poor countries let rich nations sell their produce there. This can put poor farmers out of business.
