Tom's in the pink

Tom (13) from St Edmund Arrowsmith has proved that pink is this season’s colour by raising a cool £530 (and counting…) for CAFOD! Tom’s set up his own fundraising website, and is going for big fundraising dosh for CAFOD World Gifts – along with his school where they've been raising money to support CAFOD projects in the developing world! Big Deal got the low-down from Tom; Read more
Big Deal – So Tom, why did you want to fundraise for CAFOD?
Tom: I wanted to boost our school project for a CAFOD World Gift, we were flagging a bit… only up to £1,350!

BD: What made you pick pink?
Tom: Because I thought I'd get more attention, it being girly and it worked!

BD: Who inspires you?
Tom: Miss Serry, she’s a teacher in my school – St Edmond Arrowsmith

BD: What does your mum think?
Tom: My step mum thinks I am fantastic!

BD: Do you think everyone should do something like this?
Tom: Most definitely, because children in Africa and places like that have nothing and really, we have everything!

Tom’s impressed his teachers too! Assistant Deputy Head, Mr King, said, "Tom is a credit to the school, his enthusiasm has engaged the whole community and I am delighted and proud of his achievement in raising money by going pink!"

Check out Tom’s website and we’ll be keeping an eye on his progress!
